Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to unlocking the economic potential of Nigeria’s geo-heritage sites, urging collaboration between the states and development partners.

Shettima gave the assurance on Thursday in Abuja while receiving a delegation from the UNESCO International Geoscience and Geoparks Programme Nigeria National Committee, led by its chairman, Dr Aminu Abdullahi Isyaku.

“We have changed the narrative in all spheres of our national life — social, economic, cultural, sports, agriculture, education, and diplomacy,” the Vice President said.

He added that it was “better late than never” to harness geo-heritage sites for national development.

TIMES OF NIGERIA understands that the Tinubu administration views geoparks as untapped assets that can boost tourism, create jobs, and strengthen cultural heritage.
