Jigawa Man Arrested for Killing Mother over Witchcraft Allegation

A 25-year-old man, Jibrin Ado, has been arrested by the Jigawa State Police Command for allegedly killing his mother on suspicion of witchcraft in the Gerawa area, Ringim Local Government in the state.

TIMES OF NIGERIA gathered from security expert Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the case on X, that the tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, August 26, around 4:30 p.m.

Ado, alongside accomplices identified as Musa Kwalle, Dan Abba, Sule Musa, and one Arrow, reportedly stormed the residence of his father, Adamu Saleh, and attacked his 50-year-old mother, Magajiya Ado.

According to Makama, the suspects beat the woman with heavy sticks until she lost consciousness, accusing her of practising witchcraft.

She was rushed to the General Hospital in Ringim, where she later died while receiving treatment.

Her remains have since been released to the family for burial.

“Sources said that one of the suspects, Jibrin Ado, had been arrested while others are still at large,” Makama wrote.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu, said he would verify the details and provide an update, but he had yet to do so at the time of filing this report.
