IGP Egbetokun Attends INTERPOL Conference, Pushes for Stronger Global Policing
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun is representing Nigeria at the 27th INTERPOL African Regional Conference in South Africa, where more than 200 police chiefs and security leaders from 56 countries are in attendance.
TIMES OF NIGERIA gathered that the conference is focused on tackling transnational crime, improving intelligence-sharing, and strengthening cross-border law enforcement strategies.
The IGP is scheduled to deliver a paper titled “Cattle Theft in West Africa: A Conduit for Terrorism and CBRNE Threats,” in which he will highlight links between organised crime, terrorism financing, and emerging threats such as chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive risks.
On the sidelines of the conference, Egbetokun will meet with INTERPOL President Major General Naser Alraisi and Secretary-General Valdecy Urquiza to deepen operational partnerships and reinforce Nigeria’s commitment to international policing.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains an active and reliable partner in global law enforcement efforts,” said Force spokesperson DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
The conference, which began this week, is being described as a strategic platform for enhancing cooperation among African and global police services.
