The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has met with several national leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to discuss the future of the party.
Our correspondent reports that the meeting, held at Wike’s Abuja residence, was attended by PDP National Secretary Sam Anyanwu, former governors Okezie Ikpeazu and Samuel Ortom, and Rivers legislators.
Wike, who recently warned the PDP against readmitting former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, accused the party of ignoring past mistakes.
“From day one, I told my colleagues, PDP, you are shooting yourself… You cannot have the presidential candidate at the same time as the national chairman of the party,” he said.
He argued that the PDP’s refusal to balance leadership roles in 2023 was “politically suicidal” and contributed to its electoral defeat.
