Thunderstorms and Rains Expected Nationwide Tomorrow Sunday – NiMet

Thunderstorms and light rains are expected across several parts of Nigeria on Sunday, 7th September 2025, according to the daily weather outlook released by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).

Our correspondent understands from the agency’s forecast that northern states will experience significant weather activity.

Morning thunderstorms with moderate rainfall are likely over parts of Kebbi, Sokoto, Taraba, Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa States, with afternoon and evening storms anticipated in Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina, Kaduna, Taraba, and Adamawa.

Central states are also set for a wet day, as early light rains with thunderstorms are expected in parts of Niger and Kwara, while later in the day, moderate rainfall and thunderstorms may cover Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, Kogi, Kwara, Benue, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In the south, cloudy conditions with chances of light rains are expected in Oyo, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom during the morning hours.

By afternoon and evening, isolated light rains are forecast for Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, Edo, Delta, Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Imo, Anambra, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.

NiMet has issued an advisory urging residents to exercise caution during thunderstorms, warning that strong winds may reduce visibility, cause slippery roads, and disrupt outdoor activities.

The agency particularly called on communities in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant, adding that preparedness remains key to safety during this period of increased rainfall activity.
