Buji Chairman awards 144 scholarships to students, and provides other student support

The Chairman of Buji Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Hon. Najib Falalu Tukur Gantsa, has launched a scholarship programme benefitting 144 students from the area, marking the first such initiative since the creation of the local government.

Our correspondent understands that the scholarship covers tuition and accommodation costs for off-campus students studying in Gumel, Ringim, Azare, Gwaram, Birnin Kudu, and Dutse.

Beneficiaries were selected from ten wards without political, ethnic, or family bias.

Hon. Najib explained that before this initiative, 100 students had already secured admission into the Federal University, Dutse, and Jigawa State University, Kafin Hausa, while another 50 students received support to prepare for university entrance exams.

In his remarks, the coordinator of the Matawalle Educational Support Programme, Malam Haruna Umar, commended the chairman for his commitment to education and urged the students to avoid misconduct.

Similarly, the Students’ Union chairman in Buji, Comrade Ibrahim Mamuda Gantsa, expressed gratitude and assured that the union would monitor the students’ academic progress closely.
