Former Minister of Justice and current African Democratic Congress (ADC) leader in Kebbi State, Abubakar Malami, has alleged that thugs linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC) attacked his convoy on Monday in Birnin Kebbi.

Our correspondent gathered from eyewitnesses that about 10 vehicles were destroyed in the attack, leaving several supporters injured.

Malami, who said he was in the state to pay condolences, described the attack as “a painful act clearly linked to politics.”

“Some thugs came out from the APC state headquarters armed with dangerous weapons and stones, attacking and destroying our convoy,” he alleged, vowing that there would be “no retreat, no surrender” in Kebbi politics.

However, APC’s state publicity secretary, Isa Assalafy, denied the allegation and condemned the attack, insisting that Kebbi remains a peaceful state.

He claimed that security operatives attached to Malami’s convoy fired shots, escalating the incident.
