The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast thunderstorms and moderate rains across several parts of the country on Tuesday, 2 September 2025.

According to NiMet’s daily weather outlook, obtained by Times of Nigeria, the northern states including Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Gombe, Yobe, Kaduna, Jigawa, and Borno will experience morning thunderstorms, while Bauchi, Kano, Katsina, Adamawa, Taraba, and others will witness similar conditions later in the day.

In the central region, thunderstorms are expected over Plateau, Nasarawa, Niger, Benue, Kogi, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The southern states will experience cloudy skies in the morning with light rains anticipated later in parts of Abia, Edo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, and others.

NiMet advised residents to remain cautious during thunderstorms, warning that strong winds may reduce visibility, cause slippery roads, and disrupt outdoor activities.

Communities in flood-prone areas were urged to stay on alert.
